The Order of St. Camillus celebrates the 450th Anniversary of the Conversion of St. Camillus this year. St. Camillus’ conversion means he had a complete transformation in how he saw the world and how he saw his purpose. He was no longer focusing on himself or fleeting pleasures; he now saw the face of Christ in those suffering from illness and gave his life to care for them. In relation to this celebration, Fr. Pedro Tramontin, MI, the Superior General for the Order of St. Camillus, declared that Religious Members of the Order and its collaborators should plan a yearlong celebration beginning on February 2, 2025, which marks the day of St. Camillus’ conversion.
In addition, he encourages us to strengthen our resolve to follow the example of St. Camillus. To celebrate the importance of this Jubilee Anniversary, we created a committee to lead us with activities throughout the year. Our goal is to celebrate our beginnings and to carry on the spirit of compassion and sense of community in the coming years.
We had a special Mass on February 6 at the Guardian Angel Chapel to kick off the yearlong celebration with a culminating blessing of St. Camillus’ statue in the East Lobby and a simple reception in the Pub. Please view the video below featuring these events. This yearlong celebration will be an opportunity for all of us to share our gratitude to God for the example of St. Camillus de Lellis.
